Clip & Coat

Owner, MadGrey LLC

Brijon M. is the hands-on owner behind MadGrey LLC, the company that publishes Clip & Coat. He started the site after working out what the right tool for his own dog's coat actually was — and how much the wrong one costs.

What I write about

Every page on Clip & Coat — all 122 of them — is written and maintained by me. The subject is narrow on purpose: at-home dog grooming tools, organized by the coat type they suit rather than by price or brand. Clippers and blades, high-velocity dryers, nail grinders, deshedding and dematting tools, grooming tables and vacuum kits, plus the procedures for actually using them without hurting the dog.

The site started from a practical problem rather than an editorial one. Working out which clipper would cut my own dog’s coat took far longer than it should have, because almost everything published on the subject is organized around price tiers and brand names — which are the two things that do not predict whether a tool works on a particular coat. The coat does. That reframing is the whole site.

What I do not claim

I hold no professional grooming certification or license, and you will not find one claimed anywhere on this site. I do not run a testing lab, and no page here says “in our testing”. I have not had every tool reviewed here in my hands, and a review that implied otherwise would be trivially falsifiable and worth nothing to you.

What I do instead is read the manufacturers’ documentation properly, compare the published figures against what a given coat actually requires, cite other people’s published findings by name, and show the scoring. The full method is on how we review, and the rules I hold myself to are in the editorial policy. If you can follow the method and reach a different conclusion, that is a conversation I want to have.

Challenge me

Corrections and factual challenges get answered before anything else. If a specification on a page is wrong, a product has been discontinued, or the reasoning does not hold up, write to contact@clipandcoat.com or use the contact form. I check it against primary documentation, fix the page, and change its last-updated date. If you ask what changed, I will tell you.

Who publishes this

Clip & Coat is published by MadGrey LLC, which I own and run. Affiliate commission from Amazon is the site’s only revenue, and it does not decide which product reaches the top of a page — where Amazon is cheaper than a brand store that would pay more, the link goes to Amazon.
