Clip & Coat

Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure

The plain-English version: we earn a commission if you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.

The statement

Clip & Coat is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Clip & Coat is published by MadGrey LLC, and affiliate commission is currently its only source of revenue.

How the links work

When a page recommends a product, the buy button sends you to that product on Amazon with our Associates tracking tag (ml-clipcoat-20) attached. If you buy — that product or anything else in the same session — Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly. There is no markup and no surcharge: the commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not your wallet.

Buy links are marked #ad on the page and carry rel="sponsored nofollow" in the HTML, which is how we declare the commercial relationship to search engines as well as to you. Links pass through a redirect on our own domain so the tracking is applied at click time; that redirect is excluded from search indexing.

What this does not affect

  • Which product wins. Rankings come from the method published on how we review. The commission rate is not one of the scored metrics and never has been.
  • Where we send you. Where more than one retailer carries a product, we link the one that is better for you — price, stock, warranty — not the one that pays us most.
  • Whether we tell you not to buy. Several pages here exist to prevent a purchase. That is bad for commission and correct for the dog.

Prices

We publish no prices. Every buy link reads “check price on Amazon” because a price written into a page starts going stale immediately, and Amazon’s own program rules exist partly to stop sites presenting out-of-date prices as current. The site is built so that when a verified price feed is connected, prices appear with the date they were checked and vanish on their own if that feed stops updating for more than 48 hours. Until then, the retailer’s page is the only honest source for what something costs today.

Other programs

Amazon is currently the only affiliate program Clip & Coat earns through. Some pages link to a manufacturer’s own site to cite a specification — those are plain reference links that earn us nothing, and they are not buy buttons. If we join another retailer’s program in future, this page is updated before any earning link goes live.

No sponsored content

We accept no payment for inclusion or position, publish no sponsored reviews or advertorial, and take no free product in exchange for coverage. No manufacturer sees a page before it publishes. The full set of rules is in the editorial policy.
